About Rory

Head of Film & Executive Producer, Bukhash Brothers, Dubai

Rory McLoughlin is an Executive Producer and director based in Dubai. He grew up in Gisborne, New Zealand, and landed in the Gulf in 2010 looking for something new. He stayed.

He started on the production side. Four years of learning how shoots actually run: the budgets, the crews, the schedules & the problems nobody plans for. Then eight years directing commercials and brand films across the region. For the last two he’s been producing, taking projects from the first conversation through to the final cut.

Having done each of those jobs, he knows what a director needs, what a crew is up against & what keeps a client up at night. That’s what he brings to every project now. One of the films he executive produced won a Gold Dolphin at the Cannes Corporate Media & TV Awards.

Today he’s Head of Film & Executive Producer at Bukhash Brothers in Alserkal Avenue.

Away from client work, he founded Like Minds, a UAE community of 6,000+ filmmakers, photographers & creatives who meet for panels, screenings & Cinema Club. He sits on the Media & Creative Arts Industry Advisory Board at Middlesex University and has strong ties with the Dubai Films & Games Commission.
